The Witch’s Sabbat: Samhain 30 April in the Southern Hemisphere
The origins of Samhain are found deep in the heart of ancient Europe. On this night the veil between the spirit and the human world was at it’s finest and ghosts made contact with the living. At Samhain, faeries, as well as darker creatures, roamed the Earth and offerings were made to appease the dead.

Samhain is the origin of Halloween, a time between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice. In the Northern Hemisphere Samhain falls on the 31st of October, here in Australia it falls on the 30th of April to reflect the seasons.
The actual enactment of Halloween with trick or treat, in Australia, has remained at the 31st of October.
